Archives of the Norwich Golf Club

Regional newspapers have published countless articles that chronicle the development of the Norwich Golf Club, its courses, tournaments, stories, and leadership since the early 1890s. We have compiled, curated, and reprinted more than 300 articles in the document below.

There are many ways to read the articles, search the archives for specific words or names, or simply browse them.

READ ARTICLES: Start from the top and read the articles. They are listed in chronological order. One method is to enter the “Full View” option by clicking the small square with four arrows at the top of the document. Load one article at a time by pressing the “Page up” or “Page down” arrows on your keyboard or by clicking the up or down arrow shown on the left side of the controls panel.

SEARCH ARCHIVES: Two of the easiest ways to search the archives are by year or by a specific word or phrase.

a) Search by year: Click the square box in the upper left-hand corner of the controls panel (the “Toggle Sidebar” icon). Once this sub-panel is opened, you can choose either by list or by thumbnails. The “by list” feature shows a listing of all the articles by year. The “by-list” option shows you a list of all article sorted in chronological order. The thumbnails give you a preview of all the articles, in chronological order.

b) Search by word or phrase: Click the magnifying glass icon near the upper-left-hand corner of the controls panel. After you type a word, name, or phrase, the archives will search all the articles. The searched word will be highlighted, and the controls allow you to view them one by one.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the large number of articles, the document below will take a minute or so to load. After the document loads, adjust the settings to fit your screen. The “Page Fit” or “Automatic Zoom” option usually results in the best-looking layout.
